Four men burnt a python alive in a shocking video that has been circulating on social media platform TikTok.

The video begins with a topless man holding the python on his shoulder. He then proceeds to chuck the python into the fire that was burning nearby. The snake can be seen writhing in pain as the flames caught his body. Two other men can be seen eagerly recording the whole incident on their phone. None of them made an attempt to stop the cruelty being done to the animal.

Users who saw the brutal video alerted the officials and requested them to take action against these men.

A case has been filed against all the four men in the video. The forest department is conducting an investigation into the heinous crime, on the basis of the video. All four men in the video are from Bodal Village in Gujarat, India and two of them have been identified.

The forest department conducted a raid at the house of the identified accused, however, they fled when they got wind of the raid.

“The two persons who committed the offense have escaped from Bodal village. Python is a Schedule 1 animal under Forest Wildlife Protection Act. An FIR has been registered under section 9 of the aforementioned Act," Bindu Patel, Assistant District Forest Officer, told ANI.

Five teams have been sent out by the department in order to nab the suspects. If their crimes are proved in court, they will face prison sentences from 3 to 7 years. The accused would also have to pay a fine of 10,000 INR to 25,000 INR.

Under the Wildlife Protection Act, it is a non-bailable offense to kill Indian Rock Pythons and Cobras among other snake species that are found in India.
