Will Ferrell hosted last night’s “Saturday Night Live,” but he wasn’t the only celebrity guest. The “SNL” alum was joined by Ryan Reynolds, who made a surprise appearance in a few skits.

Reynolds first appeared in the opening monologue. Ferrell notices the “Deadpool” actor in the audience, and Reynolds says he’s just here to enjoy the show because he’s a big fan of Ferrell. The host is delighted and keeps staring at the actor in the audience. It turns out Ferrell is a big fanboy and just can’t keep it together. “Will, just do the monologue,” Reynolds says.

“No, the monologue is terrible,” Ferrell says. Then he starts complimenting the Canadian actor while doing a Tracy Morgan impersonation, something he does whenever he’s nervous.

Then, Morgan actually comes out and defends Ferrell. “This is Will Ferrell. He can do what he wants to do. I suckled from his comedy bosom. Like a young Luke Skywalker, it filled me with strength,” Morgan says.

Then, the actor made an appearance during Weekend Update. The “SNL” skit showed Guy Who Just Bought a Boat (Alex Moffat) giving Thanksgiving dating tips to Colin Jost until he brings out his friend, Guy Who Knows the Owner (Ryan Reynolds). Their advice shows that they’re better with wordplay better than romance.

“This Thanksgiving, if you want to move out of the friend zone and into her end zone, pay her a compliment. Like, ‘nice cooking’ or ‘I’d have sex with you,’” Reynolds says.

As he and Moffat’s segment wraps up, Jost calls the men “my two best friends.” Jost is currently engaged to Scarlett Johansson, who was married to Reynolds from 2008 to 2011.

Reynolds wasn’t the only special guest on “SNL” last night. In addition to Morgan, Fred Armisen, Maya Rudolph, Larry David, Rachel Dratch and Woody Harrelson also made surprise appearances.
