  • Solskjaer warns Man Utd players about Aston Villa's Jack Grealish
  • Grealish has been among Man Utd's transfer targets this summer
  • He has scored nine goals this season

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer warned his players about Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish ahead of their Premier League face-off Friday, July 10.

Grealish, who scored nine goals this season, is considered to be Man Utd’s next priority signing after Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho. Grealish already admitted irrespective of Aston Villa’s result in the Premier League this season, he is ready to leave his boyhood club.

The Aston Villa skipper first caught Solskjaer’s attention when he opened the scoring at Old Trafford when the two sides met in the Premier League December. His efforts eventually earned Aston Villa, who were fighting to escape relegation, a crucial draw against the Red Devils.

Many are considering the upcoming Premier League clash between Man Utd and Aston Villa as an audition for Grealish, who has been on Solskjaer’s target list despite boosting a transfer fee of $93 million.

In a press conference, ahead of Man Utd’s outing to Villa Park, Solskjaer alerted his boys about Grealish’s brilliance on the field.

“I think the last game obviously they caused us some problems, both Grealish off the left and [Anwar] El Ghazi off the right. He scored a fantastic goal. There have been lots said and talked about him and we need to be aware of him. Whoever is close to him, if he’s off the left, in the middle or on the right. What he does is attract players to him and creates space for others. It’s not just one player in that Villa team, there’s many of them,” said Solskjaer, as reported by Sky Sports.

After Leicester City ended up drawing against Arsenal, Man Utd reduced the deficit and now were just four points behind fourth-placed Leicester. Solskjaer, whose team is on a 15-match unbeaten run, aims to finish in the top four in the Premier League table.

In the same press conference, featuring Sky Sports and other media outlets, Solskajer was asked if he believes his team can accomplish in the mission. The Norwegian replied,” I think so, yeah. You never know what’s gonna happen but it looks like teams around are playing well. There are so many games if you win every single one we’re in the top four. We cannot rely on help from anyone else, have to do it ourselves and go into next season we can put other challenges into teams.”
