New details about the plot of “Star Wars: Episode 9” have surfaced online. With JJ Abrams back as director, the film will have a very familiar element from “The Force Awakens.” Both the heroes and the villains will be in search of something in the upcoming movie.

The following article contains spoilers of “Star Wars: Episode 9.”

Just as the heroes and the villain in “The Force Awakens” were trying to locate Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) through a missing piece of a map, they will be looking for something in the next film as well. According to Making Star Wars, the main characters in the film will be in a race against time to find something.

A MacGuffin is a story telling tool that uses an object as a target that everyone in the film seek to obtain. While sources have confirmed that there will be a MacGuffin in the next film, it is unclear what this object is at the moment.

The report suggests that it is possible that Finn (John Boyega) and Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) will individually search for this object and their search will lead them to a sandy planet. Rey (Daisy Ridley) will join them on this planet later, and they will all celebrate the reunion with a “festival” celebration. This scene is said to be the calm before the storm in the third act.

At some point Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) will also land on this sandy planet. At the moment it isn’t clear if Kylo Ren is the main antagonist of the film. A previous report by Making Star Wars suggested that Driver’s character will be joining hands with Rey to fight a common enemy. The true enemy may be a threat from The Beyond.

While the heroes and the villains go on a quest to find the object, war rages on across the galaxy between the First Order and the Resistance forces. A time jump is expected in the next film, and it remains to be seen just how much the Resistance forces have managed to build up their army.

No matter how the plot plays out in “Star Wars: Episode 9,” the fans can expect some major action sequences. The scale of the battles is expected to be bigger than anything that has been featured in the previous movies. Boyega too teased previously on Instagram that they were able to achieve something “visually crazy” on the set, thanks to the hard working cast and crew who pushed themselves.
