There have been many leaks and rumors about “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” that have been circulating online. While the fans can only wait and watch the movie to find out which of these rumors are actually true, at least one of the big stories has been debunked.

The following article contains spoilers of “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.”

One big rumor that many of the fans may have read recently has to do with Rey’s parents. The leak suggested that she is actually Han Solo’s (Harrison Ford) daughter, born after he had an affair with someone during the time when Leia (Carrie Fisher) was training to be a Jedi under Luke (Mark Hamill).

This rumor has been debunked by Lucasfilm executive Pablo Hidalgo. When a fan asked Hidalgo about the story on Twitter, the executive pointed out that the timeline does not fit for that to happen, which essentially confirmed that Rey is not Han’s daughter. Leia and the smuggler were together until just five years before the events in “The Force Awakens,” and Rey’s age in that film was 18.

The story about Han Solo being Rey’s father came from a reliable source. Jason Ward has shared many leaks about the previous films with a great degree of accuracy, but a recent podcast about the rumor pointed out that even Ward was very skeptical about it.

The rumor seemed authentic because the previous films appear to have foreshadowed the relationship between Rey and Han Solo, CBR reported. The first clue was that Rey was on the same planet where the Millennium Falcon was kept. Then there was the hug between her and Leia, even though the two supposedly met for the very first time.

Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) had previously said that Rey’s parents were not significant people in the galaxy. Whether or not that is true may be revealed in “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.”
