After protesting the popular $5 footlong promotion, franchisees have another beef with their parent company, Subway.

Subway is looking to run a new sandwich promotion that will allow customers to buy one footlong and get and another footlong sub for free. But company franchise holders aren’t too excited about the deal because they may not see anything in return from the company, the New York Post reported.

According to the news outlet, the sandwich sale, which reportedly will run nationwide from March 5 to April 15, won’t compensate franchisees for the promotion event though Subway is struggling with revenue losses and closing stores.

In 2018 and 2019, about 1,110 net Subway restaurants closed, leaving the company with 23,600 locations.

The buy one, get one deal will only be available to customers that order online or through the company’s mobile app as Subway looks to increase usage on these platforms from 1.4% to a reported 5%, according to the Subway Franchisee Advertising Trust Fund (via New York Post).

Subway reportedly came under fire for its $4.99 footlong promotion, which franchisees started a petition to eliminate in 2017.
