“It’s A Wonderful Lifetime” continues to ring in the holidays with another groundbreaking title, “A Sugar & Spice Holiday,” starring Jacky Lai and Tony Giroux.

The film, the network’s first to star an Asian-American family in the lead roles, will be a treat for fans eager to see a representation of the culture, as well as those who are fans of the cast. Lai previously held roles in the Hallmark channel films “Love Struck Café" and “Like Cats and Dogs,” but is most recognizable for her roles as Kaylee Vo in “V-Wars” and Kyla Ross in the Lifetime film “The Simone Biles Story: Courage to Soar.”

As for her co-stars, Giroux is best known as Adil in “Motherland: Fort Salem,” while Lillian Lim is also well-known from that series. The group is rounded out by Tzi Ma, who is best known for his roles as General Onada in “the Man in the High Castle” and Zhou in “Mulan.”

So what will happen in this film?

“Suzie (Lai), a rising young architect, returns to her small hometown in Maine for Christmas where her Chinese-American parents, Pete (Ma) and Mimi (Lim), run the local Lobster Bar,” a synopsis reads. “Following the loss of her beloved grandmother who was a legendary baker in their community, Suzie is guilted into following in her grandmother’s footsteps by entering the local gingerbread house competition.”

The competition will once again see her crossing paths with Billy (Giroux), a former friend with whom she has a history, and as she starts competing, she finds herself rediscovering different elements of her life.

“Suzie must find the right recipes and mix of sugar and spice infused with her cultural traditions to win the competition and perhaps fins some love in the process,” the synopsis reads.

“A Sugar & Spice Holiday” premieres Sunday, Dec. 13 at 8 p.m. EST on Lifetime.
