The conclusion of the 2018 NFL season is just a day away, as the Los Angeles Rams will take on the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LIII in Atlanta.

Oddsmakers give the Patriots a slight edge in this matchup. The combination of Tom Brady and Bill Belichick has won five Super Bowls since 2001 and Las Vegas believes they can make it six on Sunday.

If they manage to do it, it will be a minor miracle after the regular season New England had. The Patriots only managed an 11-5 record, with all five losses coming against teams that missed the playoffs. Injuries and suspensions rattled Brady’s receiving corps, while the defense took time to figure things out.

Still, they made short work of the Los Angeles Chargers in the divisional round and won a 37-31 overtime thriller in the AFC title game in Kansas City.

The Rams, on the other hand, were early Super Bowl favorites during the regular season after an infusion of talent in the offseason. Marcus Peters, Aqib Talib, Brandin Cooks and Ndamukong Suh are just some of the veterans they added to last year’s 11-5 squad.

LA started 8-0 and would have hosted the NFC title game if not for a regular season loss at New Orleans. The Rams used a two-headed rushing attack to dismantle the Dallas Cowboys in the divisional round, before avenging that earlier loss with a controversial overtime win against the Saints in the NFC title game.

The game is being played in a dome, so weather is not a concern. Most experts predict a relatively high-scoring game, as both of these teams have myriad ways to score on offense. FiveThirtyEight gives the Patriots a 53 percent chance of winning, while ESPN’s matchup predictor gives the Rams a nearly identical 52.4 percent chance of victory.
