Super Junior fans have praised the boy band for making them feel special even though the group had to postpone one of its shows.

The 10-member boy band was scheduled to perform in Manila on Saturday, but the show was canceled after the father of one of the vocalists died.

Members of the veteran boy band – Leeteuk, Heechul, Yesung, Shindong, Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Donghae, Siwon, Ryeowook and Kyuhyun – reached the Philippines on Saturday for its concert, titled "Super Show 9: Road in Manila," which was scheduled to be held at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City. The news about the death of Eunhyuk's father came just as the group was at South Korea's Incheon Airport waiting for their flight to Manila on Friday.

After reaching Manila, the Super Junior members met the event organizers and decided to postpone the event, reported Koreaboo. Super Junior's management agency, Label SJ, confirmed the cancelation of the show and promised the group will return later.

Instead of departing immediately, the "Sorry, Sorry" singers opted to hold a meet-and-greet event for fans. Though visibly sad, the boy band members performed three songs for the loyal fans who had supported them throughout their 17-year career in the highly competitive K-pop industry.

During the performance break, group leader Leeteuk addressed fans and said, "I hope this doesn't bring your energy down for too long. The thing is, back in Korea, we debated whether we should depart to Manila for a while. Eventually, we agreed that we still come and say hello to the fans who had been waiting for us. Even when we arrived in the Philippines, we continued to discuss what we should do — late into the night, around 3-4 o'clock in the morning. We believe that "Super Show" is a place of happiness, fun, and hope."

Instead of the one-night performance that was scheduled for the weekend, Leeteuk promised they will return to Manila for a two-night show.

"It's only fair that we show gratitude to you all this way...We also understand that by canceling the performance, we're causing quite a bit of inconvenience to a lot of people. So, to make sure our dear ELFs (fandom name) and staff members can be satisfied, we promise that we'll come back ASAP," he said.

A fan tweeted a snap of Leeteuk's intercation with fans and wrote, "LEETEUK bowing in front of PHELFs with a sorry heart and a promise that they will come back with Siwon and Eunhyuk to meet us."

Heechul and Sungmin did not join other group members on their trip to Manila as they opted to stay with Eunhyuk to provide emotional support to their friend and bandmate. Meanwhile, Siwon is still on home quarantine after testing positive for COVID-19.
