KEY POINTS

  • "Super Smash Bros. Ultimate" has a new addition to the roster
  • The new character is Min Min from the game "Arms"
  • Game director Masahiro Sakurai introduced her from the comfort of his home

While “Super Smash Bros. Ultimate” director Masahiro Sakurai was busy introducing the latest addition to the game's huge roster, many fans watching the video can't help but take notice of one thing on the screen: his couch.

Sakurai recently appeared in a video to announce that Min Min from the game “Arms” will be joining the huge “Super Smash Bros. Ultimate” roster as the latest fighter. The game director, just like many today, did so from the comfort of his home, where a huge collection of video game consoles, including Nintendo's Famicom, and two huge TVs can be found.

Aside from showing Min Min's unique playstyle and a new stage where players can smash each other in-game to their hearts' delight, Sakurai also showed the entire gaming community one thing that sent many into a frenzy: his comfy two-seater couch.

Many netizens voiced out their appreciation for Sakurai's white reclining couch on Twitter.

One of them said Sakurai deliberately “got the smallest couch imaginable, so he could fit two gigantic TVs and all kinds of consoles in his living room.“

Interestingly, the couch is indeed small as can be based on the game director's own body size. Soranews24 noted that he's “a slender guy even by Japanese standards.”

Some have claimed to have found the couch via a Japanese store called Nitori. One of them said the couch costs 161,029 yen (about $1,506).

It's worth noting, however, that the couch that netizens pointed out to is different from the one Sakurai sat on in Min Min's reveal. Here's why, according to Soranews24:

  • The backrest is different

First, the backrest of the couch shown in Nitori's website is divided into three similar-sized portions. Sakurai's couch has a backrest that is divided into three unequally-sized portions. The top portion is thicker than the two below it.

  • The armrest is different

Second, the armrest on the couch from Nitori extends to the back of the couch. The armrest on Sakurai's couch, on the other hand, is shorter and does not extend to the back.

  • The size is different

Lastly, Nitori said the couch it is selling can seat three people comfortably. Sakurai's couch can only seat two persons with the same body size as that of the game director.

Still, it's interesting to see the gaming community become so interested in a couch.
