Kara (Melissa Benoist) will have her hands full in the remaining five episodes of “Supergirl” Season 2.

As revealed at the end of Season 2, episode 17, Rhea (Teri Hatcher) isn’t done with Earth yet. So it’s just a matter of time when the Queen of Daxam returns to National City and makes Kara pay for taking her son, Mon-El (Chris Wood), away from her. In addition, Cadmus and its leader Lillian Luthor (Brenda Strong) are still on the loose, so the Girl of Steel, along with the DEO, knows that the anti-aliens group may attack at any time. So how does Kara plan to deal with both threats at the same time?

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Benoist implied that her character might ultimately team up with one of her enemies to take down the more evil one in Season 2 finale. “She’s going to have to figure out how to balance it all,” Benoist said. “There might be people she has to ally with and people who will be her clear enemies, so it’s a lot of juggling.”

Plot details about the finale are being kept under wraps, but executive producer Andrew Kreisberg told Entertainment Weekly in February that the content of the box Lillian found among Lex Luthor’s weapons in the Cadmus bunker in Season 1, episode 12 will be revealed.

It was also announced earlier this week that both Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) and Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart) are appearing in the finale.

Hoechlin made his debut as Superman in “Supergirl” Season 2 premiere, in which he helped his cousin Kara save Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath) from an assassination attempt. He stuck around for Season 2, episode 2, where he fought the classic Superman villain, Metallo (Frederick Schmidt).

Like the Man of Steel, Cat was also last seen in Season 2, episode 2, in which she decided to take a leave of absence from CatCo Worldwide Media to find bigger and better things to accomplish after she felt stagnant in the world of media she already dominated. Before she left CatCo, Cat promoted James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks) to be her stand-in while she’s away.

“Supergirl” returns from its month-long hiatus with Season 2, episode 18 on Monday, April 24 at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW. Its Season 2 finale, on the other hand, is slated to air on May 22 in the same time slot.
