Supermodel Erin Wasson might have experience posing for the world's most revered designers, wearing the most coveted clothing and walking on the most high-profile runways; but, for her new role in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Wasson had to venture out of her comfort zone.

Wasson takes on the role of Vadoma, a sexy vampire, in the much-anticipated silver screen adaption of Seth Grahame-Smith's popular book. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is about President Lincoln's quest to defeat the blood thirsty vampires planning to take over the United States.

Who exactly is Vadoma?

Vadoma is a vampire, Wasson tells the Dallas Morning News. She and Adam [Rufus Sewell] are on a mission to kill Lincoln [Benjamin Walker] and take over the United States. She's a physical character. Adam uses Vadoma to carry out action against Lincoln.

Although aspects of her job are physical (hey, posing in a swimsuit on a hot beach for 12 hours is probably harder than it looks), Wasson had to up the ante for her Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter role.

Shooting this film was an incredible experience, she says. It was my first time on a production of this caliber. You wouldn't believe the grand nature of the shoot! One day we are shooting on a plantation outside of New Orleans on horseback, and the next I'm in the middle of an epic battle scene at Gettysburg.

She even got a bit of a history lesson. American history plays a large part of the film, but then it's juxtaposed with this untold story about Abe hunting vampires because of a personal vendetta. I learned a tremendous amount throughout the process, from live-action combat training to special effects. Being on set was a huge, eye-opening experience.

Director Timur Bekmambetov decided to shoot the film in New Orleans, one of the most cultured cities in the U.S., steeped in supernatural superstition.

New Orleans is crazy! the supermodel tells The Dallas Morning News. There are so many interesting characters living there. I was very lucky to immerse myself in a side of New Orleans that consisted of artists and musicians. Bywater and the Lower Ninth Ward are pockets of New Orleans that are rich with culture. It was the first time in my career that I was in one place for longer than two weeks, so I got to plant roots for the time I was there and really expose myself to the community. I'd love to spend more time there.

The Texas native dons pale makeup and lots of leather in the film. And, even though she oozes a bad-girl vibe, Wasson insists that she never went through a goth phase.

I was a total jock growing up, she tells Details magazine. I went to super-dorky basketball clinics and was handpicked to play on a state team called the Texas Heat.

Even on Halloween, she never experimented with a sexy vampire costume.

I never did racy. I don't understand that whole mentality with girls wanting to tap into their inner slut. One year I went as Jesus and passed out cigarettes to everyone. Another year I went as the Big Bad Wolf. To me, Halloween's not about exploring your sexuality-it's about taking the piss out of yourself.
