'Supernatural' Season 11 Spoilers
Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jesnen Ackles, not pictured) will return to the small screen in January when "Supernatural" airs it's Season 11 holiday-themed midseason premiere. The CW

Better late than never! “Supernatural” fans will be receiving their Christmas gift a little late this year when the hit CW series returns to the small screen in January with a present for its loyal viewers: a holiday-themed midseason premiere! That’s right, “Supernatural” will be kicking off the second part of its eleventh season with a very merry installment -- one that will leave audiences shaking like a bowl full of jelly throughout the side-splitting episode, titled “The Devil in the Details.”

Although a synopsis for episode 10 has not yet been made available for fans, audiences were given a promo video that teased what holiday madness would be going down in the premiere. The trailer begins with Crowley (Mark Sheppard) excitedly shaking the presents underneath his Christmas tree, while sporting a holiday onesie.

“Mom, mom! Look! I got a Sam!” Crowley says with a smile as he shows off his Funko “Supernatural” Pop! Vinyl figurine of Sam (Jared Padalecki) to Rowena (Ruth Connell).

But the red haired witch, who is channeling her inner Rudolph with a pair of reindeer antlers and a blinking, red nose, looks less than enthused to watch her grown son tear through gifts. In fact, she kind of appears to be in her own, personal hell -- and that’s because she is! A few moments later, Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino) busts through the door decked out in a Santa suit. (Is he the most twisted Kris Kringle or what?) “Merry Christmas,” the archangel bellows.

During the anticipated installment, fans will watch Dean (Jensen Ackles) continue his journey of trying to take down the sultry and soul-sucking Darkness (Emily Swallow) while Sam tries to find a way out of Lucifer’s cage, which he was locked in after getting tricked by Lucifer during the mid-season finale. It was explained in the episode that when the Darkness was freed, the cage keeping Lucifer detained was damaged. This allowed Lucifer to slip into Sam’s mind, giving him visions of hell instead of sugar plum fairies.

“Supernatural” will return for its Season 11 midseason premiere on Wednesday, Jan. 20, at 9 p.m. EST on the CW.
