Castiel will meet an old enemy in “Supernatural” Season 12. Watch The CW series on Thursdays at 9 p.m. EDT. The CW

“Supernatural” is going to show more personal stories about angel Castiel (Misha Collins) in Season 12. Although fans are excited with Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam Winchester’s (Jared Padalecki) mother Mary (Samantha Smith) coming back to hunters’ lives, the CW series will not sideline Castiel.

The angel will meet an old foe in an upcoming episode in “Supernatural” Season 12, reports TVLine. “The Walking Dead” alum Alicia Witt, who expertly played Paula in the AMC series, will join the demon-hunting show as Lily Sunder.

Witt announced the casting news on her Twitter account by posting a video explaining that she had to cancel her appearance at the Walker Stalker Con in Atlanta in order to shoot some scenes for “Supernatural” in Vancouver. All she reveals in the video is that her character has a “relationship with Castiel” and it’s an “amazing role.” “The Walking Dead” star also revealed that her character will “kicks ass” and she got to do “some pretty cool things” for the part.

Witt later tweeted that she did not specify what kind of relationship her character has with the angel.

The actress has numerous acting credits to her name, including a stint on ABC’s “Nashville” and FX’s “Justified.” She will also be seen in Showtime’ “Twin Peaks” revival.

Season 12 will not only show some personal stories for Cas, but will also see the angel partner up with none other than Crowley (Mark Sheppard). Both of them are on a mission to take revenge on Lucifer for the wrongs he did last season. He used Castiel as a vessel and usurped Crowley’s throne in hell.

Before Witt appears on The CW series, fans will see mama Winchester work with her boys as a hunter in episode 3. They solve a case in an abandoned building where the cries of a baby lead to death.

“Supernatural” Season 12 airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. EDT on The CW.
