Taco Bell’s latest promotion will have some fans of the Mexican restaurant chain feeling over the moon as it just happens to coincide with a new lunar phase on Tuesday.

Customers will be able to get a free Crunchy Taco, the best-selling item on the Taco Bell menu, from the chain on Tuesday, May 4, from 8 p.m. to 11:59 p.m. in-store or all-day through the app and online in more than 20 markets worldwide. Some of the markets that are participating in the global giveaway include the U.S., U.K., Australia, India, Costa Rica, Guatemala, and Puerta Rico.

No purchase is necessary to receive the free taco deal.

Taco Bell has dubbed the promotion the Taco Moon as it said it resembles a “favorite indulgence, the taco” as the lunar phase of the moon represents the “world’s largest and brightest object in the night sky,” which takes on a half-moon shape similar to a taco.

“Taco Bell has been an established brand in the U.S. for nearly 60 years and we are thrilled by the accelerating fandom we’re seeing globally,” President of Taco Bell International, Julie Felss Masino, said in a statement. “As we're opening more and more restaurants internationally, we know the May 4 moon will take us to new 'heights' as we introduce ourselves to new future fans in a delicious way.”

The announcement of the Taco Moon promotion comes as Taco Bell gears up to enter its 32nd international market with more than 7,000 restaurants under its umbrella. The restaurant, which is owned by parent company Yum! Brands (YUM), said it is on track to operate 10,000 locations globally in the coming decade.

Through the Taco Moon giveaway, Taco Bell plans to hand out more free tacos than it has ever done on a single day. The campaign is part of a series of promotions by the company that will roll out over the coming months which Taco Bell said it is certain will make consumers “start seeing tacos everywhere.”

In the past, Taco Bell has run other freebie promotions by giving out tacos for the World Series and as an appreciation to patrons during the COVID pandemic.

For those customers that are unable to get their hands on a free taco on Tuesday, Taco Bell is also offering a $5 Build Your Own Cravings Box that includes one Crunchy Taco, one Soft Taco, one Doritos Locos Tacos, one Spicy Potato Soft Taco, and a medium drink for online orders or delivery on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The classic Build Your Own Taco Party Pack, which includes three Crunchy Tacos, three Soft Tacos, three Doritos Locos Tacos, and three Spicy Potato Soft Tacos, can also be ordered online and for delivery on both days for $15.

Shares of Yum! Brands were trading at $117.93 as of 10:15 a.m. EDT on Thursday, up 36 cents or 0.31%.
