Texans craving both tacos and Slurpees will now be able to get them even faster as 7-Eleven is opening its first drive-thru Laredo Taco Company at one of its convenience stores.

The drive-thru restaurant is located at 7-Eleven’s store in Dallas at Park Lane and Abrams Road. The site has indoor seating, where customers can order beer, wine, or wine-based frozen margaritas on tap. It operates from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

The restaurant is known for its authentic handmade flour tortillas that are made fresh every day and an array of menu items such as beef barbacoa, chorizo, carne asada, carnitas, and breakfast tacos. The restaurant also serves a children’s menu and breakfast from 5 a.m. to 10: 30 a.m. daily.

The Laredo Taco Company was part of an acquisition that 7-Eleven made in 2018 when it picked up 1,000 Stripes convenience stores from Sunoco.

Not only will Laredo customers be able to fill up on tacos, but they will be able to order a 7-Eleven Slurpee right from the drive-thru. Other beverages such as hot or iced coffee, espresso drinks, aguas frescas, fountain drinks, iced tea, Topo Chico, sparkling mineral water, and other bottled and canned drinks are also available.

“This is delicious news for customers of both 7-Eleven and Laredo Taco Company,” Chris Tanco, 7–Eleven executive vice president and chief operating officer, said in a statement. “7-Eleven is known as a beverage destination, and Laredo Taco Company makes some of the best quick-serve Mexican food anywhere. Throw in the convenience of grabbing a taco paired with a Slurpee drink through a drive-thru, and it's a match made in heaven.”

This is not the first time that 7-Eleven has brought Laredo Taco Company to its locations as it opened a series of taco restaurants inside its stores two years ago. The drive-thru location, however, marks the sixth Laredo site in a 7-Eleven in the U.S.

The addition of the Laredo Taco Company drive-thru is part of 7-Eleven’s new Evolution Store concept, where it is testing new site formats that include a restaurant, self-serve coffee bar, novelty beverages on tap, in-house made bakery, skincare and cosmetic selections, and expansive beer and wine selection.

The convenience store retailer also has plans to open concept stores in North Texas and Manassas, Virginia, later this year. Last year the company opened Evolution Stores in New York City, Washington, D.C., San Diego, California, and Dallas.

Talk about a birthday celebration. Just before the Dallas-based company began celebrations for its 85th birthday with Free Slurpee Day, a baby named Cais Malley, nicknamed "Big Gulp," was born at a 7-Eleven in Florida. Reuters
