Bryan Mills and his team must find a missing person in tonight’s episode of “Taken.”

In a sneak peek from Season 2, episode 3 of the NBC action thriller, Kilroy (Adam Goldberg) reveals that the man they are tasked to locate is Samuel Patel, a lead accountant at Benedict Global. Kilroy tells Santana (Jessica Camacho) that Samuel’s co-workers started to worry about his whereabouts when he didn’t show up to his morning meeting. Samuel was last seen in the elevator on the way to their employee garage but never made home.

Kilroy notes that Samuel is a “total workaholic,” and that makes the former think that there’s definitely a foul play behind the accountant’s disappearance. “He hasn’t missed a day of work since he started,” Kilroy says of Samuel. “He arrives at work at 5 a.m. and goes home at 5 p.m. every single day, like clockwork. He stays longer in the weekends.”

When Santana asks why Christina Hart (Jennifer Beals) chose Samuel’s disappearance as their next case, Bryan (Clive Standen) joins the conversation and says, “Because the man is in danger.”

Kilroy then points out that there’s still no ransom demand for Samuel despite him having a huge insurance policy.

“I don’t think this is about a payoff,” Bryan replies. “I think this is personal to someone.”

Apparently, Bryan’s theory is correct. The latter part of the sneak peak reveals that Samuel’s kidnapper took him because they think Samuel’s boss stole their pension. “How much did Benedict (John Bolger) give you to look the other way? What did you do with our pensions?” the masked kidnapper asks Samuel.

According to the synopsis for the hour, Bryan and his team eventually find out that aside from the kidnapper, thousands of others were also robbed of their pension. After realizing that the team gets swept up in a case of class warfare, Bryan decides to help kidnapper get justice.

In another sneak peek from the episode, Bryan talks about the difference between justice and revenge. “Some say justice is about cramming power, an attempt to return to equilibrium, restoring order by delivering the proportionate response,” Bryan tells a man in a gas mask, who is having difficulty breathing. “Others mistaken inflicting pain is justice. They’re wrong. Violence only corrupts order, the very balance they set out to restore. But I’m not here for justice, not anymore. I’m on revenge.” Could the man in a gas mask be Benedict?

“Taken” Season 2, episode 3, titled “Hammurabi,” airs on Friday, Jan. 26 at 9 p.m. EST on NBC. Watch the sneak peeks below:
