Forbes released its highly-anticipated annual list of the world’s 100 most powerful women of 2020 on Tuesday, featuring distinguished personalities from various areas such as politics, entertainment, business, and more. Five notable personalities from the entertainment industry including Taylor Swift and Oprah Winfrey made it to the list.

The list included influential female leaders from 30 countries who were born across four generations and created an impact in the world with their work, Forbes reported. One of this year’s honorees was Winfrey, who started her career as a talk show host and is now considered to be one of the most influential people in the entire entertainment industry.

Winfrey nabbed the 20th spot on the list that was dominated by world leaders and business moguls. According to the publication, the Hollywood superstar made most of her earnings through “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” which aired for 25 years. The iconic talk show host is considered one of the most influential brands of all time and her net worth is estimated to be around $2.6 billion.

As of late, she has signed a multi-year deal with Apple TV+ and returned to the small screens with a new series titled “The Oprah Conversation” in which she speaks with newsmakers and thought leaders on various topics.

Swift is also among this year’s entries. The 30-year-old singer-songwriter dominated the music charts with her latest album “Folklore,” and she showed the world why she is considered to be one of the greatest artists of this generation.

Coming in at no. 82, the singer’s newest venture was this year’s first album to sell 1 million units as it featured many hit songs like “Cardigan,” “My Tears Ricochet,” and “This Is Me Trying.” Besides topping the charts, the album made her earn six nods at the 2021 Grammy Awards, including Song of the Year and Album of the Year.

On the other hand, filmmaker Ava DuVernay clinched the 72nd spot on the list of the most powerful women of 2020. DuVernay is known for directing projects like “Selma,” “13th,” “When They See Us,” and “A Wrinkle In Time.”

Other female personalities from the entertainment industry that landed the list were Rihanna (69th place) and Beyonce Knowles (72nd place).

The list was topped by Germany’s chancellor Angela Merkel and saw the upcoming vice-president of the United States, Kamala Harris, taking the third position. Several leaders like New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern (32nd place) and Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing-wen were notably lauded for their efforts in dealing with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
