A new era of Taylor Swift is coming for Swifties as the Grammy Award-winning musician announced on Thursday that a new album called "Folklore," and a music video for a song titled "Cardigan" is on the way.

In an Instagram post, Swift shared that the upcoming album will feature 16 songs on the standard edition, but physical deluxe editions will offer a special bonus track called "The Lakes." This new effort follows 2017's "Reputation" and 2019's "Lover."

In the post below, which showcased the artist in a black and white photo, she elaborated on what her fans can expect when "Folklore" debuts. "Because this is my 8th studio album, I made 8 deluxe CD editions and 8 deluxe vinyl editions that are available for one week," she wrote. Additionally, she revealed what songs will make up the tracklist, including "Mirrorball," "August," and "Illicit Affairs."

The deluxe editions of "Folklore" retail on Swift's website for $13 each. They come with both a standard digital edition along with the physical deluxe CD. The colored vinyl albums, available for $26 each, also come with standard digital editions.

Prior to the official announcement, she kicked off the official TS8 cycle with a photo of herself standing in the middle of a forest and an explanation of the personal journey she took as she worked on "Folklore."

After saying that "most of the things" she had planned for the summer of 2020 did not happen, she didn't anticipate finishing a new album. However, isolation allowed her to write and record the new collection. Working alongside "Skinny Love" musician Bon Iver, record producer Jack Antonoff, and others, she said she was able to create music that will revolve around her "whims, dreams, fears, and musings."

She also wrote that while she was used to overthinking about the "perfect" time to share new music, she had a feeling this time that "if you make something you love, you should just put it out into the world."

However, that was not the only news that the singer-songwriter had for her followers. She also shared that the video for "Cardigan" will premiere Thursday at midnight. After revealing that she wrote and directed the soon-to-be-released video, she thanked a variety of people who helped her behind the scenes as she completed the new projects.

"A million thank you’s to my brilliant, bad ass video team - cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto, producer Jil Hardin, executive producer Rebecca Skinner, AD Joe ‘Oz’ Osbourne, editor Chancler Haynes, special effects wizards David Lebensfeld & Grant Miller, and set designer Ethan Tobman. The entire shoot was overseen by a medical inspector, everyone wore masks, stayed away from each other, and I even did my own hair, makeup, and styling."

"Folklore" will be available Friday and is available for preorder on Swift's official website.
