A teen girl in India murdered her mother with her boyfriend's help after she objected to her relationship with him, who had earlier kidnapped and raped her, according to police.

The unidentified 17-year-old girl from Gwalior, a city in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, reportedly strangled the 38-year-old victim, Mamta Kushwaha, with the help of her lover, who had just gotten out of jail. After strangling the victim, the two suspects stabbed Kushwaha multiple times with a knife, police said, as per India Today.

The incident came to light when the landlord of the victim's residence called the cops. Officers who responded to the scene found the woman's body hidden under a bed. They later arrested the girl and her lover in connection with the incident.

"Both the accused, including the girl and her male friend, have been arrested. On the complaint of the deceased, the accused was arrested and sent to jail a couple of months ago," Amit Sanghi, investigating officer in the case, said, The Times of India reported.

Investigators found out the unidentified male suspect got into a relationship with the teenager after he was released from jail last month. However, Kushwaha objected to their affair, noting that the male had earlier kidnapped and raped her daughter when they were living in Bhind, around 50 miles away from their current residence.

During interrogation, the girl admitted to conspiring her mother's murder with her lover.

"The girl first administered some sleeping pills to the woman. Then called her male friend. Both then strangled her and later stabbed her to death. Both the accused were arrested on Sunday morning," Sanghi added.

Police also found out that after the alleged murder, both the suspects stayed with the victim's body throughout the night.

In another incident that took place in India in December 2022, a woman and her lover were arrested for allegedly murdering the former's husband to continue their extramarital affair. The victim, identified as 40-year-old Suresh from the national capital of Delhi, was brought dead to a hospital on Dec. 4, 2022. An investigation was launched after an autopsy report suggested the man died from a combined effect of asphyxia due to antemortem compression of the neck and injury of the liver by blunt force trauma. During interrogation, suspects admitted to the crimes.
