A teen from New York City is wanted for the murder of a 16-year-old girl he was in a relationship with, who was found brutally stabbed and eventually died, police said Monday.

Zyaire Crumbley, 18, has been accused of murdering Saniyah Lawrence at a residence in Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard on Sunday night. Cops arrived at the scene to find the teen fighting for her life with stab wounds on the neck. She was rushed to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead, ABC 7 reported.

Investigators are now looking for Crumbley, who fled the scene after the fatal stabbing. The duo reportedly got into an argument in the apartment where Lawrence stayed with her grandmother, reports said.

The victim's grieving grandmother Denise Jackson said she wants justice for her granddaughter. "I just want them to find him. His face is on the news. He's on the run. Just find him and put him behind bars!" Jackson said, as reported by NY Post.

The neighbors reportedly said they heard disturbances from the apartment in the past but it is unclear what triggered the fatal incident Sunday.

"It always sounded like someone was running and someone was screaming or yelling. And it's always been a lot of shouting, a lot of heavy things being thrown around. It's just always been that way. But yesterday, it escalated," a neighbor told the outlet.

Officials describe the suspect as 5 foot 8 inches tall, weighing 140 pounds with a dark complexion, medium build, and short black hair. He was reportedly wearing a black jacket, black pants, and black and green sneakers at the time of the incident.

Crumbley has a history of multiple arrests on charges of robbery, the most recent one on Sept. 11, 2020. He is also the suspect in two other robberies in 2020, but has not been arrested in connection with the cases, reports said.

However, there were no past reports of domestic violence incidents involving the now-deceased teen victim.

Anyone with information about Crumbley or the fatal stabbing has been asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
