“Teen Wolf” has shown a lot of romantic relationships, but Lydia and Stiles have never been on the same page at the same time. However, that might change in Season 6 of the MTV drama. Ahead of the final season, executive producer Jeff Davis teased that their relationship is definitely stronger than the average friendship.

“They have something special,” Davis told Entertainment Weekly. “We decided that this is the place to show that they’ve gone from a simple crush to friends to something deeper.”

Davis shared a page from the premiere episode’s script with EW which teases what could be their final moment together for a while. Stiles (Dylan O’Brien) knows that he is being targeted by the villainous Ghost Riders, who erase people from existence. He has to run, but Lydia (Holland Roden) won’t leave his side.

Lydia will be the last one to forget Stiles, but no one can erase him for long. Along with Scott (Tyler Posey) and Malia (Shelley Hennig), Lydia will realize something is off in episode 2. “They each realize that something huge is missing in their life and they come to this eventual conclusion it might be a person,” Davis added.

The intense new situation means that Lydia is going to want to save Stiles as soon as possible. At San Diego Comic-Con, Holland Roden teased that Lydia would become even more mature this season. “There’s definitely that little bit of a bickering between Stiles and Lydia, but ultimately, it’s about getting the job done,” Roden told Buddy TV. “I think she’s the most pragmatic she’s ever been and doesn’t let personal feelings come into play.”

However, Stiles will get some screen time before he disappears in the final season, and he might find out a lot about Lydia’s personal feelings. Something major will go down between the two before the Ghost Riders show up. “They’re not only lingering feelings — they become a focus, a focal point of the next season,” Davis told TVLine of Stiles and Lydia’s relationship in March. “Something big happens in the very first episode of Season 6 between Stiles and Lydia, which you’ll have to tune in to see.”

“Teen Wolf” Season 6 premieres Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 9 p.m. EDT on MTV.
