Tesla CEO Elon Musk took to Twitter late Friday to provide an update about the company’s upcoming annual shareholder meeting. The meeting, originally slated for July 7, will have to be postponed indefinitely due to the coronavirus outbreak.

“… We will have to postpone annual shareholder meeting, as still no large gatherings allowed by July 7th,” Musk tweeted. “Not sure of new date, but am guessing maybe a month or so later.”

Musk, who often uses Twitter to make announcements, replied to a series of questions.

While a date has not been confirmed, it is likely that the meeting will be combined with Tesla’s “Battery Day,” which has also been delayed from early July.

The live-streamed investor presentation would have unveiled some of the electric car manufacturer’s latest developments in battery technology. The event had been set to also unveil new powertrain developments until a change in plans last month.

This upcoming meeting comes under a cloud of controversy surrounding Musk’s recent successor as board chair for Tesla. Shareholders are being pressured by Proxy advisors Glass Lewis and Institutional Shareholder Services to not reelect chair Robyn Denholm, who replaced Musk in November 2018 following a scandal and subsequent deal with the SEC.

The advisors have urged this action due to the high compensation for directors and the considerable rise in shares pledged by the company since Denholm assumed the role of board chair.
