Hong Kong’s Apex Motors is looking to take on Tesla’s Roadster with its own electric super car that is anticipated to be unveiled next week.

The super car, which can hit top speeds of 305 kph (190 mph) has been dubbed the AP-0 and has a price tag of about $195,000, with production set for Q4 2022, Bloomberg reported. Total units expected to be produced initially is 500 in the first year from an Apex Motor’s facility in the U.K., the news outlet said.

Apex Motors has also produced a conventional gasoline model of the super car called the AP-1, which will be customized to customers’ requests. The gasoline-powered super car has a 620 kg (1,367 pounds) weight based on a carbon-fiber design and can hit zero to 100 kph (62.1 mph) in 2.5 seconds.

Powering the AP-1 is a turbocharged 2.3-liter Ford EcoBoost engine rated 400 bhp. The automaker only has plans to built about 10 gasoline variations of the AP-1 with a base price of HK$1.6 million ($216,000) since the super car was designed for testing, Bloomberg said.

The electric version of the super car is reportedly expected to be twice as heavy but faster in acceleration. It will have a range of 515 km (320 miles) on a full charge, with 80% recharge in 20 minutes with a fast charger, the news outlet said.

Apex Motors was set to unveil the all-electric AP-0 at the Geneva International Motor Show this week, but the event was canceled due to the coronavirus outbreak. The company is now planning to introduce the vehicle during a live-streamed event on March 13.
