Former world boxing champ Timothy Bradley admitted he almost took his own life after his first fight with Manny Pacquiao.

Bradley and Pacquiao have had three epic battles inside the boxing ring. While all three fights were remarkable, the first bout was the most notable one for Bradley. And despite defeating the Filipino legend in the said fight, Bradley revealed that the criticisms that came after it made him take his own life.

In an exclusive interview with “Fair Game,” Bradley recalled vividly how horrifying the first fight with Pacquiao was.

According to the former champ, Pacquiao was a “beast” and at the same a legend in the sport. He even described the feeling of fighting the boxing icon similar to fighting King Kong because the hype of the fight was so nerve-racking. But nevertheless, Bradley admitted that the fight with Pacquiao was the turning point of his career.

“It was like the moment that Ive been waiting on my whole career ,” Bradley said.

Bradley also fearlessly admitted that he was a bit scared of fighting Pacquiao, not only because he knew Pacquiao is extremely dangerous but also because he felt too much pressure ahead of the fight.

“I’m not gonna lie, I was scared,” Bradley admitted.

However, Bradley was confident that he has the speed and ring IQ which he could use to counter the power of Pacquiao. Bradley went on to win the fight. But what struck him after it was something he did not expect.

“After the decision all hell broke loose. People laughed at me, people telling me to give back the belt,” Bradley revealed.

At that point in time, Bradley felt like he didn’t do anything wrong to deserve such treatment and reactions from the fans. According to him, he fought his heart out and the decision was just right.

Bradley then revealed that aside from the criticisms, worse things happened. He first stated that the hardest thing he ever heard was that he was a fake champion.

“That I was a fake champion, that I didn’t deserve to be a champion,” Bradley said about the hardest thing he heard about the first fight with Pacquiao.

The worst part of the Pacquiao fight aftermath was that Bradley started receiving “death threats” in his own home. It affected him and his family so much and led him to contemplate suicide.

“ It feels like death. I felt like literally like, taking my own life,” Bradley revealed.
