Tom Brady was quick to send out a message to fellow quarterback Philip Rivers after he led the Los Angeles Chargers to a 23-17 victory over the Baltimore Ravens in the National Football League (NFL) Wildcard round on Sunday.

The Chargers will now travel to the Gillette Stadium on Sunday this week to take on the New England Patriots in the NFL Divisional round and it will be the first time in 11 years the two veteran quarterbacks will be facing each other.

Rivers has not had any success against the five-time Super Bowl winner and is hoping to make it third time lucky when they face off on Sunday. The Patriots beat the Chargers in the playoffs in 2007 and 2008 and is coming up against them in the post-season for the first time in 11 years.

The Chargers signal caller failed to throw a touchdown pass during their win over the Ravens with 15 of their 23 points being scored by kicker Michael Badgley. Despite his struggles against the Patriots in the past, Rivers made it clear that it is “special coming up against Brady, who is considered among the greatest to ever play the game.

"Heck, yeah, it is special,” Rivers said after beating the Ravens, as quoted on Boston.com. “To get an opportunity again to go against them, 11 years after we had the opportunity in the 2007 season, yeah, it’s awesome. Looking forward to it.”

Brady, who is seeking his sixth Super Bowl championship, also was in a jovial mood after watching the Chargers beat the Ravens on Sunday night. He was quick to post an image of his with Rivers from 2011 on his official Instagram page welcoming the Chargers quarterback to Foxboro.

“See you next Sunday in Foxboro! Let’s have some fun! #LFG,” Brady wrote alongside the image.

Meanwhile, defending champions Philadelphia Eagles, the Indianapolis Colts and the Dallas Cowboys were the other three teams to progress from the NFL Wildcard round.

The Eagles will take on one of the Super Bowl favorites the New Orleans Saints, who ended the regular season with the joint best record amongst all the teams. The Colts, meanwhile, will take on the Kansas City Chiefs, who do not have a great record in the post-season but possess Patrick Mahomes, who is the favorite to win the regular season MVP.

The Cowboys, meanwhile, will take on the other Super Bowl favorite the Los Angeles Rams, who like the Saints ended the season with a 13-3 record. Sean McVay’s side are number three on the best offense during the regular season only behind the Chiefs and the Saints.
