Hollywood actor Tom Hanks and wife Rita Wilson have announced that they have tested positive for coronavirus. The celebrity couple confirmed the news on social media and noted that they contracted the virus in Australia.

The actor further stated that the body aches became worse and his wife, Rita, suffered from fever.

They checked into a medical facility and were tested “positive” for COVID-19.

“Hello, folks. Rita and I are down here in Australia. We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive,” Hanks wrote.

The actor also explained that the medical officials have set some “protocols” and they will be happily following them, so that their condition won’t get worse. The duo will now be tested and observed by the medical authorities.

The “Captain Phillips” star also shared a picture alongside the message he wrote for the fans.

“Well, now. What to do next? The Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed. We Hanks’ will be tested observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no?” Hanks wrote.

Hanks was shooting in Australia for the upcoming Elvis Presley biopic, in which the “Cast Away” star will be seen portraying the character of Presley’s close friend and manager Colonel Tom Parker. It is still unknown if anyone else from the film’s crew has been infected or not.

As soon as the news surfaced online, Warner Bros., who is producing the movie, issued a statement and noted that the production company is contantly in touch with the authorities in The Gold Coast, Australia. The statement concluded by saying that the safety of their crew members is their “top priority.”

We are working closely with the appropriate Australian health agencies to identify and contact anyone who may have come in direct contact with the individual. The health and safety of our company members are always our top priority,” the statement read.
