Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks have been together for nearly three decades — despite a brief separation in 2014 — but you wouldn’t know it by looking at either of their social media accounts. The notoriously private pair shared a rare glimpse into their personal lives on Thursday and fans are eating it up.

Wilson, who recently appeared in “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2,” shared a photo of her and her hubby vacationing together with Twitter followers. Hanks is shown resting his head comfortably against Wilson’s as they smile into the camera. Wilson revealed no details about their current location or what they were doing when the photo was taken, writing simply, “Love.”

Hanks has clung close to his wife’s side following her 2015 announcement that she was battling breast cancer. The 59-year-old made the announcement in People magazine in April, telling fans that she had secretly elected to undergo a bilateral mastectomy followed by reconstructive surgery. Days prior she released a statement claiming that she would be taking the month off from “Fish in the Dark.” She promised to return to the stage May 5.

“Last week, with my husband by my side, and with the love and support of family and friends, I underwent a bilateral mastectomy and reconstruction for breast cancer after a diagnosis of invasive lobular carcinoma,” she wrote.

Wilson opened up about her condition, sharing with supporters that doctors had been monitoring the situation for quite some time. It was not, however, until a friend who had suffered from breast cancer suggested she get a second opinion on her diagnosis that Wilson learned that she had cancer. She said that this decision saved her life, adding that “a second opinion is critical to your health.”

“You have nothing to lose if both opinions match up for the good, and everything to gain if something that was missed is found, which does happen. Early diagnosis is key,” she said.

Wilson has said no more about her health since it came to light that she was diagnosed with cancer in 2015.
