Is Tom Holland In ‘Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse’?

In 2016, Marvel Studios and Sony introduced us to a new Spider-Man, played by Tom Holland. In the animated “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” audiences will meet yet another version of Peter Parker.

Holland is not set to appear in “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” despite the many variations of Spidey hitting the big screen. Still, there are plenty of familiar faces in Sony’s voice cast.

“New Girl” alum Jake Johnson will voice the adult Peter B. Parker, but the movie’s credits reveal plenty of other spider voices. Shameik Moore (“Dope”) will voice Miles Morales while Oscar-nominated actress Hailee Steinfeld plays Gwen Stacy/Ghost Spider. “Orange is the New Black” star Kimiko Glenn lends her vocals to Japanese character Peni Parker, and John Mulaney plays Spider-Ham. Spider-Man Noir is played by Nicolas Cage, and Chris Pine plays another guy named Peter Parker.

That’s just the heroes. Villains include Liev Schreiber as Wilson Fisk, Kathryn Hahn as Doc Ock, Jorma Taccone as Green Goblin, Joaquín Cosio as Scorpion and Marvin Jones III as Tombstone. Mahershala Ali, Brian Tyree Henry, Lily Tomlin and Zoë Kravitz play supporting characters.

“Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” is not connected to the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s live-action films, but fans won’t have to wait long to see Holland play the superhero again. Though his character had a rather traumatic end in “Avengers: Infinity War,” he is set to return in “Spider-Man: Far From Home,” due out in July. “Avengers” fans also expect him to appear in April’s “Endgame,” though that’s unconfirmed.

Holland will make some animated appearances as well in the years to come. He’ll voice a scientist who turns a spy (Will Smith) into a pigeon in next September’s “Spies in Disguise.” The 22-year-old was recently confirmed to star in Pixar’s “Onwards,” set for 2020, and he will voice a dog in “The Voyage of Doctor Doolittle,” starring Robert Downey Jr., also due out in 2020.

“Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” hits theaters Friday.
