Marvel is dominating the list of the most anticipated movies of 2019. Three of the top five most anticipated movies are actually superhero movies. What is common among all the films is that they are all from studios owned by Disney, which means that the company is set to make a few more billions next year.

According to the IMDb's ranking of the most anticipated films of 2019, “Captain Marvel” has somehow managed to get the top spot, Variety reported. Although the film is about a very powerful character from comic books whose presence was teased in “Avengers: Infinity War,” this is the first time the fans will see this relatively new character on the big screen. What is surprising is that this is an origin story, and it has managed to get ahead of some of the more established franchises and names in the industry.

The highly anticipated “Avengers: Endgame” has found itself in second place. The previous film in this series ended with a huge cliff-hanger, which the upcoming film will resolve. What also makes this an important movie to watch is that it marks the end of the first phase of Marvel movies that began with the success of the first “Iron Man.” The film will introduce a new set of heroes like Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) and also introduce the next big baddie.

“Star Wars: Episode 9” is also a highly anticipated film. This is the last film in the new trilogy that is expected to tie-up all the loose ends and set up the future movies from the franchise. However, even in a report by Entertainment Weekly, the film wasn’t able to find a spot in the top two. The franchise has suffered after the mixed responses from the fans for “The Last Jedi” and “Solo.”

“Spider-Man: Far from Home” is next on the list of the most highly anticipated movies, with even Forbes placing it in the fourth place in its list. Tom Holland won high praise for his portrayal of the wall-crawling superhero, and fans particularly applauded his emotional last scene in “Infinity War.” This next film will take the superhero and his friends on a trip to Europe, where he will encounter a new villain.

The only animation flick in the top five most anticipated movies is “Toy Story 4.” Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz (Tim Allen) are back with the gang. This time, they are heading to a carnival where they will meet some new characters.
