Keeping up with the growing trend towards CBD-infused edibles, major candy maker Jelly Belly has joined the bandwagon with its own line of special weed carrying jellybeans. The treats are to be released under the new brand Spectrum Confections.

According to CBS News, the CBD-infused jellybeans will contain 0.30 percent maximum of CBD (10mg) and will come dusted with dextrose sugar or a similar powder called Malitol to give it a sweet taste. CBD isn’t really great on the palate, so the added flavoring will help mask it—just so its consumers can enjoy the experience. Spectrum Confections will feature a variety of weed-infused jellybean variants in 38 flavors, such as gourmet, sugar-free, and sour among others.

It has to be made clear, though, that while these colorful novelty treats will contain CBD, they will not get a person high. CBD, found in cannabis plants, is not psychoactive as well. It is often used for a range of medical purposes including depression, insomnia and seizures. All except four U.S. states allow the use of CBD for such reasons, though the legalization of marijuana itself is also fast happening in many locations.

Spectrum Confections reportedly released a standard packaging that contains 800 beans each, but they have all sold out. As of this writing, the company is said to be receiving wholesale requests for 8,000 and 32,000 units.

Another major brand that is taking on the CBD trend is Coca-Cola, which has purchased a minority stake in Iris Nova. The latter is known for making Dirty Lemon, which produces a range of high-end drinks including a line that makes CBD beverages. Whether Coca-Cola will soon also create its own CBD-infused drinks remains unknown.
