KEY POINTS

  • Manchester United was able to sign their two key transfer targets this summer
  • PSG and Juventus have been linked to a Paul Pogba bid
  • PSG used their transfer capital to bring Lionel Messi to France

Manchester United winger Paul Pogba looks like he’s going nowhere as the club feels confident with him staying this summer and working out a deal.

During their busy transfer window, Manchester United was able to bring in their two primary targets in the form of longtime target Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund and world-class defender Raphael Varane from Real Madrid.

These two signings were seen by many as the club’s way of solidifying their run at knocking off Manchester City from winning a fourth title in five years.

However, they need to take care of business at home first before they can start looking towards their opponents.

Pogba has been linked to a move to Paris Saint-Germain, where a dream lineup of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, Mauro Icardi and newly signed Lionel Messi awaits him.

Juventus has also been linked to Pogba as they hope to bring him back to the club that launched him to star status.

According to Sky Sport via TuttoJuve, the Italian club deemed the €60 million ($70.4 million) price tag for Pogba is simply too much than what they can afford.

ESPN reported that Manchester United was prepared for a Pogba bid from PSG, but the two-year, €30-35 million ($35.2 - $41.1 million) Messi signing has nuked their transfer capital for the bid.

With no other club feasibly having the resources to sign him, Manchester United is confident that they can keep Pogba with the club and extend him for another deal.

However, Pogba’s decision to stay with Manchester United could hinge on their success in the English Premier League and in other competitions across Europe.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sees Pogba as an integral piece of his midfield corps and losing him would be a big disappointment for the club that’s looking to make big strides this season.

Pogba’s transfer aspirations this summer look to be bleak and him staying with Manchester United could spell big things for him as he’ll be working with Sancho and Anthony Martial on the attack.
