  • Arsenal F.C. plans to keep Kieran Tierney for now
  • Mikel Arteta admits he likes Tierney's brand of play
  • Leicester City is looking for a replacement if Ben Chilwell moves out this summer

Kieran Tierney has been struggling in his first year with Arsenal F.C., but it appears Gunners manager Mikel Arteta is not giving up on the 23-year-old left-back. Arsenal has no plans to ship the Scottish football player in the next transfer window, dousing suggestions that Tierney could reunite with former boss Brendan Rodgers with cold water.

The Gunners acquired Tierney last summer in a $30 million deal with Celtic. However, he has been struggling this season due to injuries.

This has led to rumors that Arsenal could be interested in dealing him away, with Leicester City as the suggested destination. However, Arteta is not ready to give up on the Scottish player, even saying that he is impressed with Tierney, Sky Sports reported.

"With his performances I am delighted. He has adapted really well. He is a player that gives you everything in every session and every game and the quality as well that he is adding," Arteta said.

Since the resumption of football action, Tierney has returned to full health. He has become a regular fixture since the restart and started six of Arsenal's seven games. Tierney has been performing well, and this has captured the eye of pundits.

"He’s still so young, he has things to improve obviously but he’s been a great addition to the team," Arteta said.

Arteta is aware that Tierney is struggling, and there are differences between playing in Scotland and playing in England. It appears that was part of the struggles that the 23-year-old had to endure. Now, the Gunners coach believes that Tierney has finally adjusted, proof of which is his improved performance for Arsenal after the forced COVID-19 break.

"He had a really difficult period because of the injuries, because he moved to a different city, a different context that he had in Glasgow with a club that was winning all the time and where he was very settled," Arteta explained.

A reunion between Rodgers and Tierney was suggested, with Leicester City preparing for the possible exit of Ben Chilwell. The 23-year-old left-back has been linked to a possible move to Stamford Bridge.

Tierney is likely to start anew for Arsenal when they face Tottenham on July 12. The Gunners are looking to stay the course and remain ahead of HotSpur in the Premier League table. Arsenal is at the eighth spot but owns a slim one-point lead over Tottenham.
