  • Arsenal is considering a move for 20-year-old Brazilian striker to address flailing offensive efforts
  • Yuri Alberto could be a pawn for the future as the Gunners prepare for the departure of regular strikers
  • The Gunners could land the Brazilian striker as early as the January transfer window

Arsenal is expected to try and add more players to the mix as early as the January transfer window.

One position they are expected to fill in is the striker position with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette not exactly providing firepower.

For the Gunners, there are a lot of names to consider this coming January transfer window. They have been linked to names that include Dusan Vlahovic, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Alexander Isak.

According to Goal Brazil, one name that may not instantly ring a bell is Yuri Alberto. The 20-year-old is not exactly one of the top-tier names but is a young striker that could be an investment for Arsenal’s future.

Arsenal and Shakhtar Donetsk have allegedly started talks, and a deal could go down in the coming transfer window.

The Gunners have reportedly reached out to Yuri Alberto’s agent, Andre Cury, to determine what it would take to get the Brazilian to Emirates Stadium.

Alberto, who has scored 19 goals and has provided four assists this season, has over three years left in his contract.

If the Gunners are persistent, Internacional is reportedly willing to deal him away for a £12.7 million ($16.8 million) fee.

There is no doubt that Alberto is a promising player. He has been dubbed as the “New Neymar” by Sport Bible.

However, the fact that he is still unproven in a top Europe league means Arsenal is also taking a big risk on the striker.

Hence, targeting Alberto may be nothing more than adding more striking options. Although Aubameyang, Lacazette and even Eddie Nketiah are not delivering, Mikel Arteta may simply be doing due diligence.

The future of the three strikers as part of Arsenal is uncertain. The most notable is Lacazette who could be on the move as early as the January transfer window.

In a report last month here on IBTimes, it was mentioned how several teams could explore a deal involving the 30-year-old player.
