  • Werner is still struggling, but he is not giving up on his tenure with Chelsea
  • Werner is hoping to do better with Tuchel's aid
  • Tuchel may tweak strategy and get Werner more involved on offense

Timo Werner was one of the biggest names before the current season started, but his stint with Chelsea has not exactly been promising.

Although the 25-year-old showed a lot of promise when he moved to Stamford Bridge, his overall performance this season has not been impressive.

Of course, most know that it was Frank Lampard who pulled strings to take in the German forward. But with the Blues not performing well, the English coach was sacked and replaced by Thomas Tuchel.

Under normal circumstances, that would factor in the future of current players. But seeing that Tuchel and Werner are both from Germany, there may still be hope over the horizon.

As of this writing, Werner has only managed 10 goals in 39 games. Despite underwhelming and failing to prove that he was worth every penny of that $67 million deal, the German is not ready to leave Stamford Bridge just yet.

Werner remains confident he can turn things around, and Tuchel may hold the key towards unleashing the real Timo Werner soon.

"Timo is clearly one of these guys who has always scored a huge amount of goals and defined himself as the guy who has the last touch on the field. This is a very unique character and position. It is a sensitive position," Tuchel stated several weeks ago.

To recall, the bar was set high for the Blues to be rolling with their prized recruits before the season started.

Aside from Werner, Chelsea also added Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech. Tuchel likewise has Tammy Abraham and Christian Pulisic in tow.

The only problem is that in the case of Havertz and Pulisic, both are sorely out of form.

Rather than score, Werner has been doing other things like assisting his teammates. He has produced 10 assists so far this season, but Tuchel may want to up the workload a bit to get his fellow German more involved.

With any luck, this could be the push that will help Werner break out of his shell.

"The biggest strength of Timo is to attack the space behind the last line so it is maybe also our fault in the dominant game that we play at the moment, it is very natural that the spaces are closed by the opponents," Tuchel stressed.
