KEY POINTS

  • Chelsea has set its sights on Gianluca Mancini
  • Roma is dealing off players to address the financial situation
  • Kurt Zouma is fancied by AS Roma

Chelsea is looking at different players, and it appears one player on their radar is Gianluca Mancini of AS Roma.

La Lupa is expected to sell off some of its players due to its financial uncertainty, and the Blues are ready to cash in.

The Blues are expected to move in for the Italian defender this summer per a report from Il Romanista.

He is one of the players being put up for sale by La Lupa, and his next stop could be at Stamford Bridge.

The 25-year-old has been doing well at Stadio Olimpico the past two seasons after an initial loan move from Atalanta. He has made 41 appearances across all competitions last season and has five goals across his name.

Mancini still has three years left in his current contract with Roma. However, Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia reportedly has a plan to land the £27 million-valued ($37 million) defender for less this summer.

To somehow offset the money needed to land the Italian defender, the Blues may include center-back Kurt Zouma as a makeweight in any potential deal.

The French player’s future in Chelsea is up in the air, having fallen down the pecking order of Thomas Tuchel.

Reports have already come out that the 26-year-old is expected to leave the Blues this summer.

Teams from England and abroad are interested in the French national, but nothing has gone beyond that.

Among the teams, reportedly interested in Zouma include Everton, Wolverhampton and Tottenham Hotspur per a report from Telefoot.

The Wolves already pitched an offer, but this was thumbed down by the French center-back.

Ironically, Roma was mentioned as one of the teams interested in Zouma. But it was not raised if this was the reason why Granovskaia thought of packaging the French player with cash for the Blues to get their hands on Mancini.

Zouma has two years left in his current pact with the Blues. Should Roma agree, he would become the second center-back to be dealt out by Chelsea this season.

The first one to leave Stamford Bridge was Fikayo Tomori. The 23-year-old completed a switch to AC Milan that moved him from the English Premier League to Serie A.
