  • Willian nearing deal to stay at Stamford Bridge
  • Multiple teams monitoring Willian status with Chelsea F.C.
  • Willian prefers to stay with Chelsea F.C. if given three-year deal

The future of Willian Borges da Silva remains up in the air but latest reports claim that the Brazilian has made breakthrough talks with Chelsea F.C. A new deal for the 31-year-old could be out as early as this week. Once signed, it will serve a big blow to several clubs in the hunt for his services.

According to Sky Sports, Willian and Chelsea have had breakthrough talks that could finally end speculations on where the Brazilian will play next season. Frank Lampard wants to keep Willian in the mix and it appears that wish will be fulfilled soon.

The development would be a big blow to teams like Arsenal F.C. The Gunners were one of the identified suitors of Willian the past months. A move to Emirates Stadium looked plausible, particularly because Willian's agent, Kia Joobrabchian held close ties with Arsenal management.

But until an official deal is signed, Arsenal and several other teams are monitoring Willian's situation. Other teams linked to the Brazilian player include Manchester United, Barcelona and Inter Miami, the Daily Mail reported. Ironically, David Beckham's side already pitched a three-year deal for Willian but was thumbed down. It is believed that Willian preferred to stay and play in Europe.

Chelsea may finally give in to the three-year demands of Willian. The Blues originally offered a two-year deal but the Brazilian stood pat on his demand for a longer-termed pact.

However, Chelsea remains at the top of the heap. No less than Willian himself admitted that he preferred to stay at Stamford Bridge. He added that once that three-year deal is on the table, he would immediately sign it. He added that he would immediately sign a new deal once that three-year deal is on the table via YouTube Channel De Sola.

"There are rumors about several teams that may be interested," Willian said. "I'm waiting. My agent hasn’t given me any news yet. I'm waiting for his call."

Willian has proven to be a key piece in Lampard's system. He has scored played in 339 matches across all competitions, scoring 63 goals in total.
