  • Wolverhampton is considering making a move for Rafael Leao of AC Milan
  • AC Milan is said to be listening to offers for Leao
  • Leao is being likened to Cristiano Ronaldo

Wolverhampton is leaving no stone unturned even with a formidable roster made up of Joao Moutinho, Nelson Semedo and Pedro Neto.

The trio is notable Portuguese footballers, and it appears there could be one more on the way.

Reports have come out that the Wolves are adding Rafael Leao of AC Milan.

The two sides have already held discussions with the 22-year-old. If successful, this means the forward who has been likened to Cristiano Ronaldo could be an added boost to the Wanderers' upcoming campaign.

However, this depends on who I Rossoneri would deal out first.

AC Milan is speculated to possibly sell off either Leao or Jens Petter Hauge this transfer window.

However, it would be best to note that AC Milan is only interested in dealing away one of them.

The bad news for the Wolves is that AC Milan appears to be more inclined to deal off Hauge. He has drawn interest from Bundesliga, but no team has been able to meet the required £17.6 million asking price.

So unless a team steps up to meet that demand for Hauge, the focus shifts to Leao.

Leao was mentored by Tiago Fernandes at Sporting Lisbon before he moved to Lille in 2018.

He would make the switch to AC Milan in 2019, with Fernandes believing Leao could thrive at the highest level.

Fernandes was so high on the Portuguese forward that he compared him to Ronaldo.

As far as he is concerned, Leao is capable of playing for any top club in Europe.

“He reminds me of Ronaldo, the 'Phenomenon,' for speed, technique, and quality in the decisive part of the action,” Fernandes stated at the time to Tuttomercatoweb. "Rafael has the talent to play for Real Madrid, Barcelona, all the best European clubs."

Unfortunately, Leao has not been able to live up to that hype with AC Milan.

He only had 22 starts in Serie A managing to score six goals and issue six assists. While his attributes could be compared to Ronaldo, his performance has yet to reach that stage.

If he is picked up by the Wanderers, Leao is likely to play the left-wing. He would be complemented by Adama Traore, who would cover the opposite side.

Should this be sealed, the Wolves should be an exciting team to check out this coming season.
