  • Ben White is patiently waiting if Arsenal can pull off a deal with Brighton
  • Brighton is open to parting ways with White for as long as the asking fee is met
  • White will need to compete with several Gunners in the center-back position

Ben White of Brighton is aware that he will be in for a new challenge if Arsenal and Brighton come to terms.

The 23-year-old has been in the center of transfer talks with the Gunners having already sent two bids for the center-back.

The Gunners initially pitched a £40 million ($55.3 million) bid for White, which was thumbed down.

An improved offer of £47 million ($65 million) was sent, so it will be interesting if this would be enough to pry the 23-year-old from the Falmer Stadium.

On his part, White is reportedly keen to make the switch and take on a new challenge.

Brighton will allegedly not stand in the way of the defender for as long as their asking fee is met, Sky Sports reported.

The Seagulls reportedly want £50 million-plus bonuses ($69 million) in exchange for White.

The funds would be used to find a replacement for the English player and to fill up other slots on the team.

White knows that his name has been mentioned and linked to Arsenal in the past years.

But for now, he prefers to wait for an official announcement before believing anything.

“It’s nice, it’s happened quite a lot over the last two years, there’s been a lot of noise,” White said to Football 365. “Not really. You don’t know what’s true and what’s not. So there’s no real point talking about it.”

Assuming that Arsenal and Brighton come to terms, White knows he will have to work hard to earn his place.

He will be competing against players like Gabriel, Rob Holding, Callum Chambers and Pablo Mari for the center-back spot.

If those names are not enough, there is also William Saliba to jockey with. The 20-year-old was signed to a £27 million ($37. 33 million) deal in July 2019 but has yet to formally make his first-team debut with the Gunners.
