Mark Wahlberg is not ready for his daughter to start dating.

On Tuesday, the “Transformers: The Last Knight” star told Entertainment Tonight that he is an “overprotective” dad when it comes to his daughter, Ella Rae, 13. In fact, Wahlberg shared an incident about a young man showing interest in his daughter. According to the “Deepwater Horizon” star, the potential suitor even brought his mother to meet him.

“Nobody is a good type or sort. For me, you know, I’m super overprotective,” Wahlberg explained. “But he’s just a very nice, young, smart boy who is very polite and well-prepared.”

The actor also admitted that him being an overprotective father extended to his “Transformer” co-star Isabela Moner, 15. “She’s a sweetheart, she’s growing up too fast. It’s just the fatherly thing in me, you know? I just don’t want [her] being anything other than sheltered and protected,” he explained.

There is no doubt that Wahlberg is indeed a family man, but unfortunately, he did not get the chance to spend Father’s Day with some of his family members this year. The “Ted” star posted a photo on Instagram with only his daughter Ella, saying in the caption that he misses his wife and other kids. “So glad to be able to spend Father’s Day with my daughter and missing my other three kids (and wife)! Happy Father’s Day to all dads everywhere! #family,” he wrote in the caption.

Although Wahlberg was not with his whole family for Father’s Day, he received letters from his children, which according to him was the best present he could get. The letters were special to him because they “just [told] me that they love me ... and call me the best dad ever, even though sometimes they say they hate me and I’m the worst dad ever, usually when they’re not getting their way,” said the “Shooter” star, ABC News reported.

Wahlberg explained that it was not easy to have a 13-year-old daughter, but when she told him that she loves him, it “means the most” to him. The actor was so happy after reading their letters that he wanted to take them to school even if that would mean that he will be late for his appointment. He added that he just wanted to spend more time with them.

Wahlberg has four children: Ella, Michael, 11, Brendan, 8, and Grace, 7.
