President Donald Trump has sought the support of cruise companies in helping Bahamas residents affected by Hurricane Dorian in terms of temporary housing assistance.

“Any cruise ship companies willing to act as stationary housing would be appreciated! Trump’s tweet said.

The Trump twitter post noted that Coast Guard (USCG), FEMA has been helping the victims along with many other countries including moving people from the worst-hit parts of the Bahamas to safer areas.

After the hurricane Dorian’s devastation, homeless residents and emergency workers in Grand Bahamas are short on housing.

For them, cruise ships, ferries, and accommodation vessels are potentially the best support systems.

There is a history of cruise lines lending a helping hand during Hurricane season emergencies.

Cruise ships such as the Carnival Fascination and Grand Celebration were chartered by disaster management agency FEMA in 2017 after hurricanes.

Carnival chartered many ships to FEMA following Hurricane Katrina to house emergency workers.

Meanwhile, reports said many cruise lines have stepped up service in the Bahamas, delivering supplies, relief workers and support for evacuation.

According to cruise news, Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line ship Grand Celebration transported 1, 100 Bahamians to the USA, a statement from the cruise line said.

Evacuees have been sent to the Port of Palm Beach in Florida early Saturday.

The cruise ship spent Thursday and Friday in the Bahamas after ferrying 300 voluntary workers, 850 boxed lunches and 225,000 pounds of supplies, including food and water to the storm-hit regions.

In Trump news, the President praised potential U.S nominee for the Bahamian ambassadorship, Doug Manchester, a billionaire from San Diego.

“I would also like to thank ‘Papa” Doug Manchester, hopefully, the next Ambassador to the Bahamas, for the incredible amount of time, money and passion he has spent on helping to bring safety to the Bahamas,” the U.S President tweeted.

In the meantime, relief has reached many areas of the Bahamas rampaged by Hurricane Dorian.

At the badly hit Abaco Islands, several places are still looking like a bunch of debris.
