Despite rumors, Kristin Chenoweth was not jealous of Ariana Grande stealing the spotlight during NBC’s “A Very Wicked Halloween.” The rumor was debunked by Gossip Cop on Thursday.

The original stars of the hit Broadway musical "Chenoweth and Idina Menzel" reunited recently for a televised concert which featured songs from the show on its 15th anniversary. The concert, a pre-taped special, was aired Monday night and featured many special guests including Grande.

According to a report on Naughty Gossip, Chenoweth was “green with envy” over all the attention given to the singer. The blog claimed producers were not sure whether the singer would show up for the show after she split up with Pete Davidson. They quoted an alleged anonymous inside source for the information.

“Producers of the TV special were unsure if Ariana was going to show up for the taping. She had just broken up with Pete Davidson and she didn’t show for the dress rehearsal,” anonymous sources said, according to Naughty Gossip. “Everyone was so worried that during the afternoon run-through, Broadway’s current Elphaba, Jessica Vosk, stood in for Ariana. But just before the show started to tape, Grande appeared, and she knocked it out of the park.”

“Poor Kristen Chenoweth didn’t know what to do. She was one of the original witches in the show and thought it was going to be her night,” the source adds. “Not only did Ariana out-sing her, but after breaking off her engagement in such a public way, the audience had Ariana’s back from the second she stepped onto the stage at the Marquis Theatre. The night was all about Grande.”

Gossip Cop pointed out that the website failed to mention the fact that Chenoweth was impressed with Grande and revealed how she’s known Grande for a very long time.

"I've known her since she was nine years old, so...that's like my family. So it's a moment that I'm gonna get to watch her have, one that she's wanted for a long time, that I knew would happen. I knew would happen," Chenoweth said before the show, according to a report on E! News.

"She's a complete professional, she takes her work very seriously and knows how to have fun, too," she said adding she and Grande shared some characteristics. "We are very similar in a lot of ways, not just height, but yea I mean when I look at her my neck doesn't hurt, you know!...Yeah, that's my girl."

In addition, Gossip Cop contacted a source close to the Broadway actress who said the report was “not true at all.” The source told the website Chenoweth “has known [Grande] forever and they adore each other.”

Chenoweth even gave Grande a shout out on Twitter while the broadcast was airing. She later retweeted a video of Grande performing a track as well. All of these prove that the blog’s claims were false.
