Kate Middleton and Prince William are, undeniably, two of the most popular members of the Royal family. Though the couple has been facing several controversies and backlash over a lot of things, Kate and Prince William has maintained a strong front and weathered these challenges together. Now, new reports are saying that Queen Elizabeth II is ready to step down from the throne to make room for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Woman’s Day claimed that Queen Elizabeth thinks only Kate Middleton and Prince William can save the flapping image of their family, especially after Prince Andrew’s association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein was made known to the public. To recall, the Duke of Work was named in court papers, in 2015, as part of a U.S. civil case against Jeffrey.

The Guardian reported one of the accusers, Virginia Roberts, claimed she was ordered to give Prince Andrew whatever he required. Virginia, then, said she was forced to have sex with the father of Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice on three occasions. A certain Johanna Sjoberg also claimed that the former husband of Sarah Ferguson touched her breast while they sat on a couch in Jeffrey Epstein’s Manhattan pad in 2001.

On Nov. 20, Prince Andrew announced his decision to step down from royal duties. "It has become clear to me over the last few days that the circumstances relating to my former association with Jeffrey Epstein has become a major disruption to my family's work and the valuable work going on in the many organizations and charities that I am proud to support,” he said in a statement released by the Buckingham Palace. "Therefore, I have asked Her Majesty if I may step back from public duties for the foreseeable future, and she has given her permission,” Prince Andrew went on.

While Prince Andrew was hitting headlines after his family suffered the fallout of his interview, Kate Middleton and Prince William were busy doing charity works and attending Royal engagements. This, according to Woman’s Day source, is what the British citizens want to see from the Royal family. However, besides the fact that the publication is known for its made-up and fabricated reports, a Royal expert previously claimed that this might not be enough for them to have a right to the throne.

“I think the royal family is in a very unique position in that you know the Queen is on the throne because it was her God-given right. But I think that is now seen as quite an antiquated concept,” Katie Nicholl said. “I think certainly if we’re looking into the future towards King William and Queen Catherine, it’s not going to be seen as a God-given right. They’re going to need to justify being there,” she added.

Though it is not impossible for Kate Middleton and Prince William to become the rulers of the monarchy in the future, it is unlikely to happen very soon despite the line of succession. Previous reports even claimed that Queen Elizabeth might never consider abdication as she thinks it means going against her country.
