  • Herschel "Guy" Beahm a.k.a. Dr. Disrespect has reportedly been permanently banned from the platform for mysterious reasons
  • One figure plugged into the steaming community dismisses the notion that Beahm was banned was for a recent string of takedown notices that other streamers have been receiving
  • A near-nine minute long video of Beahm's last stream show him acting erratic and distracted by something happening off-camera

Popular Twitch streamer Herschel “Guy” Beahm, also known as Dr. Disrespect, has mysteriously been banned from the platform.

Beahm’s page on the Amazon-owned streaming website has been shut down, and only a message stating “content is unavailable” remains. Mashable reports that a statement provided by a Twitch spokesperson suggests that Dr. Disrespect violated one or more community guidelines, although it is unclear what those were or if Beahm is merely suspended or totally banned.

"As is our process, we take appropriate action when we have evidence that a streamer has acted in violation of our Community Guidelines or Terms of Service. These apply to all streamers regardless of status or prominence in the community," Twitch's statement reads.

Well-known eSports consultant Rod "Slasher" Breslau, who is plugged into the streaming community, noted on Twitter that Dr. Disrespect’s removal from Twitch is not related to a recent string of copyright takedown notices that some other streamers have been receiving.

Breslau noted in a subsequent Tweet that Beahm’s Twitch subscribers have received refunds. Also finished is his partnership with Discord.

The final Twitch stream from Dr. Disrespect runs almost nine minutes long and shows him acting unfocused and scatterbrained. Something off-camera is clearly causing him grief, especially at the end when the stream is cut.

This isn’t the first time that Beahm has caused controversy. Recently, he spread and endorsed baseless conspiracy theories on the coronavirus. Just last year, he was kicked out of E3 and temporarily banned from Twitch after streaming from inside one of the Los Angeles Convention Center bathrooms. In 2018, Dr. Disrespect delivered a racist Chinese accent while streaming. The year before that, he went on a hiatus after publicly admitting that he had cheated on his wife.

The timing of the ban is curious since it comes mere months after Dr. Disrespect signed a multi-year deal with Twitch in March. That means Twitch was already aware of his past history when they offered him a contract.

Beahm has an agent at Creative Artists Agency but that person had not yet responded to Mashable’s email when they attempted to interview him.
