Drew Barrymore was recently photographed walking barefoot in New York City. Many fans quickly reacted to the actress’ bizarre sighting on Twitter.

On Monday, the 46-year-old talk show host was spotted by Page Six as she was strolling the streets of the Big Apple. Barrymore looked somber as she walked the pavement without any footwear.

The “50 First Dates” star wore a gray shirt with matching sweats that had the words “Free City” printed on them. The actress also carried a black backpack and a blue bottle of “Just Water” in her left hand.

Barrymore followed the COVID-19 guidelines during her outing by wearing a face mask, so many were wondering why she opted to not wear a pair of shoes for protection since the atmosphere was 37 degrees when she hit the streets.

Many netizens reacted to the photos that were shared by the media outlet on Twitter. Some of her fans were worried for her while others wondered why she did such a strange move. A few netizens also slammed her and claimed that she only did it for attention.

“Barefoot on a beach or in the grass is awesome. Barefoot on the streets of NYC is gross,” one wrote.

“The risk of stepping on something barefoot in New York City that can endanger her life is significantly higher than that mask can protect her from COVID,” another commented.

“Another woke delusional Hollywood star. You rock a mask while walking around barefoot? What a joke,” another Twitter user opined.

“Anything for attention,” a different netizen stated.

Barrymore’s bizarre sighting comes days after she revealed that she has no plans to return to acting at the moment.

During her guest appearance on SiriusXM’s “Radio Andy” last week, she was asked if she was planning to make a comeback on the big screen. The mom of two then admitted that she’s done with acting for now.

“If I'm being honest, the answer is no. I don't want to be on a film set right now, but that could change when my kids are older,” she said during the interview. “I stopped doing these when my kids were born, because I've done it since I was in diapers at 11 months old when I started.”

The Hollywood star went on to explain that she chose to focus on parenting her two kids with ex-husband Will Kopelman, Olive, 8, and Frankie, 6. She said she didn’t want to be always asking the nanny how her kids were while working on a film set, as per People.
