  • Khamzat Chimaev criticizes Kamaru Usman ahead of UFC 273
  • Chimaev thinks Usman can't stand a chance against a fighter like him
  • "Borz" is certain he'll dominate the welterwight division soon

Khamzat Chimaev has a clear view of where he’s headed in the UFC.

After establishing an exceptional four-fight unbeaten run, Chimaev will be facing one of the toughest challenges of his career at UFC 273 on Saturday, April 9 as he takes on No. 2-ranked welterweight contender Gilbert Burns.

The fight is important for both fighters. Burns is putting his Top-Five status on the line, while “Borz" needs to win in order to break into the Top 10.

Should Chimaev win, he’ll surely take a step closer to title contention.

Despite being aware of how big his next assignment is, the Swede still found time to send a warning to the reigning welterweight champion Kamaru Usman.

According to Chimaev, Usman is no longer in his prime form given he has already suffered wear and tear.

Moreover, the 27-year-old reckoned that the current UFC pound-for-pound king is not as great as people thought he is as he hasn’t faced someone like him.

“Brother, Usman is almost [retired], his knees don’t work, his back hurts, his arm hurts, operation everywhere,” Chimaev told Daniel Cormier in a recent interview. “The guy is too old and too slow. He’s too slow, they want to like make money how they talk, they want to find a way and make money and go away from me, you know.”

“Who he beat, brother, he beat the same two guys four times,” he continued. “He beat Colby twice and he beat the other guy (Jorge Masvidal), twice. Who he beat, brother? Tyron Woodley, he was out from the UFC after him, 10 guys beat him, and boxing, a YouTube vlogger beat that guy. You know like who he beat? I don’t know, I don’t understand, he didn’t beat and didn’t fight somebody like me.”

As it stands, Chimaev has finished all his four past opponents in the UFC.

While some believe that he is nothing but a “hype train,” Chimaev is out to prove them wrong in the only way he knows how—to “kill them” inside the Octagon.

“The people talk about Top, Top 10, Top 5, doing these things. If somebody stands in my way, I’m going to kill them,” Chimaev said in a UFC promo video. “Don’t stand in my way. I’m here, undefeated, undisputed, I’m the champ, I’m the king, I come for everyone.”
