UFC Champ Thinks He's Similar To Conor McGregor In One Aspect

A current UFC champion is certain he is now feeling the pressure Conor McGregor has been bearing in his career.

Kamaru Usman has never tasted a single defeat in the UFC. However, the reigning UFC welterweight champion stressed that it is hard to maintain a certain level of success with people waiting for him to lose — something he feels the former two-division champ McGregor is currently dealing with.

Speaking to the “True Geordie” podcast, Usman pointed out that now that he’s already a champion, he and McGregor share the same burden.

“I know it’s hard being Conor [McGregor],” Usman assessed. “I know it’s hard. I’m a champion, and I know how hard it is to be a champion now. I can’t imagine what Conor’s going through. That’s got to be hard. You can’t do anything.”

“People can’t wait to boo because now, people are just waiting to rub it in your face,” he added. “Yes, of course, you’ve got the money, you’ve got all this you’ve got all that. But bro, you got knocked out in your last fight. And you’ve won once in your last four of five fights. People just can’t wait to throw that in your face. It’s a tough life to lead.”

McGregor hasn’t fought for a UFC title since losing to Khabib Nurmagomedov in 2018. However, “Notorious” still has a massive fanbase and is widely regarded as one of the greatest fighters of all time.

At present, McGregor is looking to regain his once phenomenal UFC career by trying to settle the score in his upcoming rubber match against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 happening on July 10.

Ahead of the highly-anticipated trilogy fight, McGregor assured that he has made a “few little adjustments” and will put on a great performance.

“All the marbles are on the line,” McGregor told Fox Sports. “I'm here training very, very hard. I'm about to go for my second session of the day. I'm in great condition already."

“I beat him in the original bout,” he pointed out. “I lost in the rematch. And then we've got trilogy, I've got a few little adjustments to make. I feel very, very confident. I'm very focused and driven. And I'll go in there and put on one hell of a performance and get it back on July 10th."

Known for some almost accurate fight predictions in the past, McGregor once again played “Mystic Mac,” vowing, "I'm gonna crack him with a jab and he's gonna wobble and I'm gonna put him away early. It is going to be a first-round KO, mark my words."
