  • Kavanagh said McGregor will surely beat Gaethje
  • Kavanagh loves the idea of a possible McGregor vs. Diaz 3

Conor McGregor’s long-time coach John Kavanagh addresses Justin Gathje and possible trilogy fight with Nate Diaz.

The UFC was the first sports organization to pull off a successful event amid the coronavirus pandemic. With the promotion already booking fights, fans are already longing to know when would they see McGregor inside the octagon once again.

During a recent live Q&A with fans (via Elie Seckbach Of EsNews), McGregor’s coach Kavanagh was asked to talk about several things about his relationship with the Irish superstar. As expected, some fans asked Kavanagh to address McGregor’s plans and his thoughts about possible opponents Gaethje and Diaz.

According to Kavanagh, a fight with Gaethje wasn’t even supposed to be a question as he is confident that McGregor will dismantle the American fighter.

“Conor vs. Gaethje? I can’t believe this is even a question. Of course, Conor. I’m really missing what people are seeing with that match-up,” Kavanagh said.

As for the idea of a third fight with Diaz, Kavanagh is very positive about it and he even took a quick look back at how he and McGregor avenged the devastating loss during the first clash.

“Yes, Conor and Nate’s fights are some of my favorites. First one, great lessons learned. Second, (we) executed a new plan within 4 months, great fight. Nate’s a great guy, great build-up. Yeah! I’d love that,” Kavanagh said about McGregor vs. Diaz 3.

Meanwhile, Gaethje recently revealed his thoughts about being the UFC interim lightweight champion . In an appearance on Joe Rogan Experience, the 31-year-old said that “every single one of them would want to be in his position right now.” He was also furious about McGregor possibly getting a crack at Khabib Nurmagomedov instead of him.

“Politics were gonna f*ck me. I wasn’t going to get the fight. Conor was going to somehow or some way get that fight. Now, I got the chance to go out there and I did what I did,” Gaethje pointed out.

Prior to the lockdown, McGregor is coming off a record-breaking win against Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone. Gaethje on the other hand, also managed to secure an impressive TKO win over top lightweight contender Tony “El Cucuy” Ferguson. The pair has been linked to a blockbuster fight for quite some time.

However, MMA insider Richard Hunter claimed that any event involving McGregor will not happen anytime soon. Hunter said that the UFC will not let a McGregor fight happen without live fans because they never want to miss out on the massive live gate sales it can produce.
