UFC Hall of Famer Chuck Liddell sent Mike Tyson a message following his boxing comeback.

Boxing was still on hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic when Tyson made one of the boldest moves in the history of combat sports – a comeback at the age of 53. After nearly 15 years of layoff, the legend put on his gloves and started hitting the mitts again. As expected, combat sports personalities were stunned by Tyson’s brave act. And since Tyson is no stranger to MMA, UFC legend Liddell recently weighed in on “Iron Mike’s” return.

In a recent video call interview with Submission Radio, Liddell talked about some of the most interesting things about his UFC and Hollywood career. However, the interview was closed out by a series of questions about Tyson and his promising return to boxing.

According to Liddell, Tyson is a true icon in the sport and he can pretty much do whatever he wants given his legacy. More importantly, “The Iceman” was convinced that Tyson “still got it” after seeing the former champ’s recent training video clips.

“Whatever he wants. He looked in great shape, he looks like he’s been working out. I mean, before he decided to announce something, he got ready. He still got it. If he wants to go out there and do some exhibition matches, it’ll be great,” Liddell said of Tyson’s return.

Liddell himself once attempted a comeback. In November 2018, Liddell reignited his past beef with fellow UFC Hall of Famer Tito Ortiz. The pair went on to settle the score once and for all. However, Liddell performed terribly and got owned by Ortiz in the very first round. Given his personal knowledge and experience about making a comeback in combat sports, Liddell was asked to give Tyson some piece of advice.

The 50-year-old responded by admitting that he’s not the best guy to ask about making comebacks. However, Liddell still emphasized that Tyson just have to experience the feeling he used to be accustomed to during his prime.

“I don’t know if I’m going to be issuing keys for making comebacks but he knows where he needs to be and how he needs to feel. Tyson’s been doing this for way too long,” Liddell emphasized.

Tyson and Liddell got briefly involved in some fantasy fight talks in the past. Despite all the buzz about who would’ve won the said fight both legends showed respect to one another. In fact, Liddell even noted that he’ll watch Tyson’s exhibition match “no matter who he fights.”
