"Terraria" has finally ended the wait for its latest and fully-updated patch with "Journey's End." The update is a big addition to the game, making it climb all the way to fourth in the list of Steam's "Most Played" game list. It has also surged in the number of players currently playing it, casual or not.

According to PlayStation Lifestyle, the latest update meant developer Re-Logic is nearing the end of its development work. The last and biggest update, "Journey's End," was called a "labor of love" by its developers. The PC version of the game has received the update last May 16, while the updates for the console versions are soon to follow.

Re-Logic said that the game could finally be called "complete" after so long. It has received a lot of new items to craft, new boss fights, massive improvements in graphics, the balance of gameplay and other game mechanics.

"Terraria" has sold around 30 million copies as of April 2020. While Re-Logic may have finished its updates and developments on the game, it hasn't revealed if it is working on a new project. It may need to focus on the game for bugs and other problems that may surface to satisfy its whopping 489,900 players at the moment, according to PC Games N.

Modest projections from the developers have placed a player reaction of 25,000 to 72,000 but that figure has since been broken. It may have been also helped by the fact that most people are at home due to the coronavirus pandemic.

With the update, the average player count for the game had been broken. In the last 30 days, it has reached an all-time high of slightly under 116,000 players. The previous record set was in April, peaking at 51,300.

The game currently sits in fourth at the list of most-played games on the digital platform. The games leading the list are "PUBG," "CS: GO," and "Dota 2."
